FAQs for Steel Erectors
The SSTC Inspector Qualification Examinations provide a means for a steel
erector to test, qualify and document those personnel, including inspectors,
responsible for the quality of the work. The following is from the Program
Guidelines for AISC's Steel Erector certification program:
"6.1.6 Training - The company shall document the training and skill levels of
its employees through completion of training programs and/or field experience.
8.2.2 Employ a welding technician on staff knowledgeable in welding and code
requirements and capable of writing and overseeing welding procedures."

Is a quality control program in effect to allow management to assess whether
work is being performed according to specifications?
